General anxiety, clinically referred to as Generalized Anxiety, is defined as excessive worry that does not pertain to any one specific event, but rather, everyday life events that do not normally warrant such level of concern. Those with generalized anxiety tend to anticipate unfortunate events, and their level of worry is often unrealistic or disproportionate to the situation. When generalized anxiety is severe enough to be characterized as a disorder, the anxiety dominates the individual’s mind, is very difficult to control, and interferes with their level of functioning, including work, schooling, social activities, and relationships.Common symptoms of GAD include restlessness or feeling “on edge”, irritability, difficulties with concentration, muscle tension or soreness, insomnia, frequent urination, trembling, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, nausea, heavy perspiration, and ongoing worry and tension.
Anxiety Treatment - Initial Assessment
The initial assessment is a brief, structured clinical interview that allows us to gather important information necessary to develop your treatment plan and/or offer recommendations. You will be contacted within 24 hours of purchase.
At Sayu, we provide individualized counselling sessions with a registered clinical psychologist and supervised therapist. Treatment is typically offered in blocks of 12 sessions, in which a therapeutic relationship is established, a treatment plan is customized to your needs, goals are set, and symptoms are evaluated and treated. We use evidence-based cognitive-behavioural techniques, muscle relaxation, biofeedback, breathing exercises, time-management tools, and other proven methods to reduce anxiety.
Treatment costs vary depending on the number of sessions acquired.
